About Me

Hello, I’m Anandarup (Anand). I am an experienced researcher with 10+ years of R&D experience, 5+years of team leadership and management, diverse hardware and software skills with many award-winning IoT-based technology prototypes and comprehensive understanding of IoT architectures, UAV networks, drone swarms, automation, applied machine learning in IoT, and digital transformation architectures. Currently, I work as a Research Associate at the Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge, U.K. I have a Ph.D. in Computer Science from IIT Kharagpur (India). I also serve as the Vice-chair of IEEE P1954 - Standard for Self-Organizing Spectrum-Agile Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Communications (IEEE SA P1954), Associate Editor of Springer Nature’s Peer to Peer Networking Applications journal, and as an Area expert of IoT Communications and Interoperability (IEEE ComSoc Special Interest Group (SIG) on IoT for e-Health). I serves in various capacities in multiple global conferences in the domains of communications, networking, and automation. I have been invited keynote speaker and panelist in multiple global conferences, panel discussions, and academic lecture series. Currently, I have more than 50+ impactful peer-reviewed scientific publications in coveted journals and conferences with a personal citation index of 430+, h-index of 11, and i-10 index of 15.

I have been awarded various prestigious awards such as the 2018 Gandhian Young Technological Innovation award by the Hon’ble President of India for “Socially Relevant Innovation” in 2018, the Dr. A. K. N. Reddy Award for commercialization of prototypes in 2018, and others from organizations such as IBM and Johnson Controls. During my Ph. D tenure, I have also been the recipient of many prestigious travel grants for attending conferences, workshops, and meetings across the globe from organizations such as Microsoft R&D, ACM, IIT Kharagpur, DEITY, etc. I have been popularly covered in Indian national print and televised media for my works on UAVs and IoT based systems in healthcare. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

Sensing- predicting- recreating UAV controls, camera interfaces, networked streaming of UAV video and control feed, networked control of UAVs, autonomous aerial demarcation of ground plots, gesture-based controls.

UAV Networks

Network of UAVs, UAV-based ground crowd tracking, UAV-based mob tracking, data offload in UAV swarms, decentralized decision-making in networked UAVs, reinforcement-learning based processing offload in UAV swarms, sustainable UAV swarms.

Underwater Networks

Development of low-cost underwater transducers, physical layer for underwater communication, MAC layer for underwater communication, underwater multimedia streaming, underwater relay network, underwater surveillance.

Industrial IoT

Development of sensors for industrial fault monitoring in power stations, industrial mesh networks, Blockchains for Industrial IoT, Industrial IoT-based analytics and feedback.

This video is a reminder of the good ol' days when we were learning to handle drones and trying to automate them, without any testing infrastructure. A small reminder of our drone struggles and the stop-gap solutions applied. Surprisingly, we could fly these drones at any time of the day, for indefinite periods, all the while messing with its automation and flight behavior.

SensorDrops Networks is dedicated to addressing basic social needs by utilizing advanced Internet of Things (IoT) based sensing, monitoring, and control solutions.
